rafe’s dream comes true
After watching this video you’ll agree that improv clarinet solos and duels don’t happen nearly enough these days!
Eyes Flutter Beneath – Inside The Dream Laboratory
I’ve been meaning to mention a top quality ambient release from the artist formerly known as Audio Gourmet. If you like organic ambient then you need to get this disk. Since it’s free for download you don’t have an excuse! Harry Towell sets the bar high with the first track Six Years Dreaming and takes it from there,

Rafe on Radio Proglas
This could be Rafe’s first mention on BuzzMoo.com! Well, we go way back. And now he’s on the other side of the world doing a live set for Czech radio very early in the morning for some reason. If you like cheeky folk (potentially a new sub-genre I’m coining just for him) or comedy and are a morning person, make sure to check it out..
“The lovely folks at Radio Proglas have been foolish enough to give me 45 minutes of air time. I think they think that because the majority of the audiance doesn’t speak English, I can’t do any harm.Radio Proglas is a Christian Radio Staion, but from 7.15 to 8pm Feb 12, I promise there will be no mention of god…possibly of alcohol and sex, but no god.Feb 12 @ 7.15pm in Czech / EuropeFeb 13 @ 5.15am in Australia” (Radio Proglas)
For a preview, it’s worth checking his MySpace and if you like what you hear do yourself a favour and join his Facebook group.
YouTube – symphonyau’s Channel
A nice first from YouTube – an effort to form a symphony orchestra from people submitting their individual parts online. The music, composed especially for this project, is offered to anyone who might like to enter. Top entrants go to the USA to perform with all the other entrants in a special concert. Cool!
Two Jams!
So due to some mixups and complications here in the bedroom studio I’ve ended up with two incomplete tracks, but I like enough to want to release them. Somehow I’ve lost the master file for the first track, and the settings for the second are entirely screwed up for no good reason. Both contain what is essentially my first “live jam” that’s been good enough to include in a song. Hence the jam jars! Enjoy their incompleteness and the boppy beats.

Open Source On The Air
James and Karin from Open Source On The Air get Pia “into the studio” and have a good discussion dealing with the latest OLPC XO / Windows news, Open Source in general and Software Freedom Day 08. Prior to Pia’s segment there’s a great talk on the state of audio in Linux. Paul Wayper, open source DJ, takes a look at the FOSS options for making music on your computer. Talk about two of my favourite topics rolled into one!
Chris Vrenna on Alice
I’ve been digging trough the BuzzMoo.com archives and came up with my 2003 interview with Chris Vrenna, the man responsible for soundtrack to American McGee’s Alice and a lot of Nine Inch Nail’s drumming. I got the chance to ask him about the Alice soundtrack and computer game music in general…
“…Up till now, it was all about frame rate of the visuals, and memory space was at a premium. CPU speeds are now more than adequate, and CDRoms and DVDs have plenty of storage space to add full bandwidth audio, even in surround. Now that gaming is such a huge industry, I think you will see more “name” artists doing the scores, as well as licensed music, much like movies are now…”
Oldschool! For a look into the not-so-distant-past, check out the interview here.
Musical Inspiration
Logic has been getting a bit of a workout down here in the Bedroom Studio lately. Here’s the latest with some release artwork from Frez. I used NI’s Massive and FM8 for the lead synths in this one, and I’ve really taken to “Delay Designer”…as far as inspiration goes, Ronald Jenkees triggered this one i”m pretty sure!\r\n
