I’m not an art scientist but it seems to me that Kurt Schwitters would have had something to say about AI generative art. He saw machines as “abstractions of human spirit”. Many of his works were compositions of disparate items, words and numbers. The items could be useless on their own, or even trash. Individual words arranged as a description that a machine uses to compose a picture could, I think, be described as a display of the abstraction of the human spirit.
