In order to get a clearer picture from the tealeaves that are webstats, on Elroy’s recommendation I’ve installed something called Referrer Karma. It’s a script that filters out referral spam by making sure the incoming link is actually from where it says it is. It’s also got handy blacklist/whitelist functions. I understand it’s pretty popular and that it will make significant headway in blocking spam. I’ll let you know how it goes… unless all my hits are spam.. in that case I’m just sitting here talking to myself.. weird..!
