Two days out from the election and I think I’ve worked out what I’m going to do. In order of preference:

House of Reps:
Quintin Hedges-Phi llips – Secular Party: Decided to throw all I had at pushing back religion.
Andrew Leigh – Labor: Bob McMullan’s replacement, haven’t seen to much of the kid on the news, but have seen him in plenty of fluro vets and hardhats. Must be creating jobs!
Indra Esguerra – Greens: Greens always go above Liberal.
James Milligan – Liberal: Bottom of the barrel.

Senate:
Kate Lundy – Labor: Kate’s a good friend of CASE. She knows what’s going on and wouldn’t it be nice if she somehow ended up Communications Minister one day?
David Matthews – Labor: For added Labor support.
Hannah Parris – Greens: The Greens have some insane policies. Here in Fraser Green influence is on the rise. They’re effectively tempering any social swing to the right in this city, keeping Labor in check and pushing the Libs further away from power, which is what I like about them.
Lin Hatfield-Dodds – Greens: A nice woman who’s done a lot of work in the community. Her husband is a nice guy, too. But the Church Energy really, really turns me off here.
Darren Churchill – Democrats: These goons are referencing the Liberals for some reason. Since their almost total implosion a few years ago, I’ve heard almost nothing from them and don’t really expect to.
Anthony David – Democrats: Same goes for this guy. I might have even put them above The Greens had they not preferenced the Right.
John Glynn – Independent: Not much info on this guy. He could be a gun advocate for all I know, and since info was hard to come by, I have to put him towards the bottom. But not all the way…
Matthew Watts – Liberal: I’ll be honest, I didn’t look at this guy.
Gary Humphries – Liberal: At the end of the day ACT would be better off with Labor and Greens Senators.

Abbot and O’Brien on broadband

Following one of the most lame policy launches I have seen (Minchin makes Conroy actually look good :/ ), Tony Abbot hit the 7.30 report last night to tote the Liberal’s broadband plan for Australia. It didn’t seem to be much more than the usual “hands off and let the market deal with it” approach which, as I’ve said before, explicitly entails people missing out. Find me a company that’ll provide Walgett better than a few MBps – lame satellite, lame 3G and weak DSL won’t cut the mustard. It’ll take fibre and it won’t be cheap. Conroy’s suggestion that the kind of services the Coalition intends to bring to rural and regional Australia should upset Nationals voters is spot on.

The whole piece clearly hasn’t spent much time in the non-tech head of our potential Prime Minister.

Generally I post tornado videos but the following clip is some pretty awesome footage of fast moving weather. If I were a pirate on a ship I’d call this a black squall and I wouldn’t be happy to see it.

Weird weather heralds the turbulent times here in Canberra and abroad. The campaign cycle, now fully in swing, not actually as imposing and irritating as I was anticipating. The letterbox has remained relatively free of propaganda but with just over two weeks left there is plenty of time for half of Tasmania’s forest to end up on my doorstep.

Here at the foot of Black Mountain our options are limited. Over the next two weeks I’ll take a look at what we’ve got…

While being a clever techno-monkey I managed to delete BuzzMoo.com earlier this afternoon. It’s a long and complicated story that ends in a three hour phone call to Elroy. It sure is a good thing I happened to, by chance, back up about a week ago! There’s a lesson here, kids. You say you back up but we all know you don’t.. it’s seriously worth it. So enjoy the new interim theme! Picked entirely at random, I’m actually quite happy with it. Frez’s done some work on the banner, as you can probably tell.
