I’ve been very impressed with Ubuntu 24.02. I’ve used Linux on-and-off since the late 90’s but it’s never been my daily driver – gaming being the main reason. Valve’s pretty much sorted that problem out. So I thought I’d check in with Ubuntu after hearing that version 24 was well worth it. I can confirm that it is, and a few days after installing it I decided to blow away my Windows 11 partition for good. Operating System testimonials are a dime a dozen, but for what it’s worth I’m never looking back. It’s fast, stable, compatible with everything, flexible, secure and free. What else could you want?
I don’t mind Windows 11, and I think the M365 and the Power Platform have some great features – I’ve even gone on record saying that I think that Microsoft’s current offerings are probably the best they’ve ever come up with. But at what cost? Well, the cost. The deal breaker for me really comes down to the embedded advertising. Apart from the obvious affront of paying a large sum of money for an operating system plastered with ads, it doesn’t make sense from a UX perspective. You don’t need me to tell you their only motivation is money.
