It’s Been a While (Since i first saw you) (BuzzMoo)

There was actually a post between this and the last, only Mert deleted it (as he often does) with an update of his own.

I’m charged tonight. I’ve been away for the past 3 days at lake Conjola (north of Ulludalla, if that helps any). It rained as it has for the 5th year in a row now. But 2 great days of perfect weather made up for it, with aqua coloured crystal water you thought only existed on Getaway. We build sandslide tracks that were around a 20m drop down a sheer sand-dune. With a running start and a plastic bottom board, you could get some serious speed. You needed it for the 1m high jump at the bottom, designed to throw you into the river if you were going fast enough. If not (which was usually the case) it was hello wet sand at high speed, head first. Pretty dangerous really. Some kid almost broke his neck and my brother fractured his arm. But it’d be the most thrilling thing i’ve done for a while, and the casualties didn’t stop anyone.

Now i’m back i’m set for some more work. A notion that will probably die soon enough. As OzForces progresses the workload increases, it’s faily intense but exiting at the same time. I mean, i can’t really leave the PC for an extended amount of time and i don’t really have time for anything else, but when you’re helping build an empire you have to make sacrifices.

Meanwhile i got myself a sweet sweet Logitech MX500 mouse. The best mouse i’ve ever used, and for $100 clams, you can’t go wrong! It’s got a great response, internet navigation buttons and it fits really well into your hand. It’s tops.

Also in the pipe is a new Microsoft Natural Multimedia Keyboard. I would have preferred to go Logitech, but they don’t do the erganomic gig with all the buttons i wanted. And i can’t deny that Microsoft keyboards are damn good. In one of those “it was meant to be” moments at Grace Bros when purchasing my mouse, i heard a clerk behind me say “How are we organising the soundtracks section?” (as they were re-doing the floor stock). I turned around to see what was going on and there was the Hannibal soundtrack staring me in the face! Jumping out of line almost as fast as i did for the Alice soundtrack, i grabbed the precious CD and ran for my life (back to the checkout). This CD has been impossible to find in any stores here. My only option was to order online, and we all know what happens when i try to do that.

On the topic, it’s not surprising to note that my Casper soundtrack still remains invisible, a week late now and counting.

I used to do little updated webcam pics back when i had my webcam plugged in, but since i moved my PC i haven’t been bothered to do anything of the sort. So tonight while the OzForce red phone remained mercifully silent, i took a few shots of new features in The Love Pad.

A chinese scroll with “BuzzMoo” written on it. A more detailed shot will arrive once I steal Mert’s camera again.

“A Ghost Play” collage. From David Mack’s work.

Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again. Top work by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley. Well worth the damned expense.

“Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland” and “Through The Looking Glass (And What Alice Found There)”. Boxed set with illustrations by Mervyn Peake. It’s now set next to my American McGee’s ‘Alice’ box. Both of these titles have caused me a great deal of trouble and probably will continue to do so.

There’s also even more computer junk on my floor than usual (a fried client’s PC and the old OzForces Hotel server, for anyone who cares) plus some other random cables and bits, which are even more boring than the stuff pictured above.

I guess you could say things are looking good. But that’s probably because i’m in a fairly decent mood (Even with a 12 hour shift on the OzForces phones looming tomorrow morning). The real problem as i mentioned before was that i really don’t have time for anything else. I don’t have the energy to make pictures or create music and even less time to see friends which is dissapointing. Well it’s more than that really, but who has energy enough to complain?

“Neeeeeighboooours… (Mert)

Everybody needs good neiiighbours.” I bet the folks on Ramsey street never have anything like this. That’s a video I took this morning of the folks accross the road doing laps of their frontyard on a dirtbike at 11 this morniing. I love the smell of 4 stroke in the morning!

Within the next week or two there might be a spot of downtime for buzzmoo.com as we change hosts or something. I know I’ve said it before but this time we have no choice so if you can’t get to the site that’s why.

Delicious delerious (Mert)

I won’t go into details but I just accidentally consumed a piece of onion that has been sitting on my lounge room floor for who knows how long.

Anarchy rules! (Mert)

This morning I wake up at 10:30 and find the PM doing his press conference so I watch intently. Then there’s some news and political analysis followed by Dubya doing his address at midday which I also watched. So now we’re all going into one of the most unpopular wars in a long time and America with all their rubbish is becoming more and more unpopular with the East as well as the West. Fast forward a few hours and I find myself sitting in my lecture at uni wearing a shirt with “U S A” printed accross the chest in big white letters. I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself.

MMM, Steamed hams! (Mert)

It’s been a little while but I’m back with a new Mert’s Kitchen. This time it was vegetable patties. It’s the first of probably many meals that exploded on me (quite literally). Read about it here.

And I’ve moved the February posts over to the archives. I really should organise those into months or something now.

Stating the obvious (Mert)

“Who knows what crazy schemes the powers that be will come up with to screw me over this time.” That quote is from the 7th Jan. You can see it in the archives. As Buzzmoo pointed out the crazy scheme the powers that bee came up with is to give me tutorials on the day of, and the day after my long awaited Moby concert. Part of my grades are determined by my attendence and participation in these.

So basically what we got here is a tute ending at 4:30 on Thursday, my Moby concert starting at 8:00 in Sydney which is at least a 3.5 hour drive away. So even if I were able to get on a coach the second my tute finished I’d still be late to the concert.

I was planning to line up earlier in the day so I’d be at the front of the crowd but that looks unlikely now. And the opener is Groove Terminator too which I don’t want to miss but may have to.

I’ll say one thing for my luck, it’s consistent.

One last wish (BuzzMoo)

I find myself once again frustrated by the lack of access to obscure soundtracks in Australia. After finding One Last Wish from the Casper movie soundtrack on the network, i’m blown away by James Horner’s work and more than a little cut i didn’t think to check the score out earlier. I didn’t realise Casper: A Spirited Beginning was so old, 1995 infact. From what i remember it was Pinnocchio but with a ghost instead of a marrionette, but don’t quote me on that. I also remember Pizza Hut’s Casper-water-squirter promotion.

Either way the song hasn’t been out of my playlist this weekend. Download it if you’ve got Kazaa open. Now all i have to do is import the CD from the states and hope we don’t get a rerun of the Red Dragon incident.

In a few hours i’m off in the OzForces APC (Roy’s car) with the OzForces Crew (Aray and Roy) to the OzForces Building (Somewhere on Kent St, Sydney) to install some more OzForces game servers (…they really are OzForces Game Servers). But i have to sleep before then, so that i’m charged to spend hours in a controlled and sterile server room, where humidity is a myth and the only thing to comfort you is the incessant drone of thousands of CPU and climate control fans.

In other news my neck is very sore from the moshing that took place at Shaaaaane’s party last night. Once Alex got going it was all you could do to not smash your head through a window. Also, i ended up ontop of a garden arch.

Meanwhile, Mert has screwed our Moby concert plans. He’s saying something about Uni or something. And how we can only get a bus to Sydney and even then it’s going to be just in time for the concert. And then we’ll have to leave practically right after. Talk about lack of commitment from a huge Moby fan. If Moby himself was reading this (and he probably is, knowing our reader base) he’d probably cry and then make a slow beat song about how Mert wasn’t faithful. I’ll put it in our Audio section when it’s done.

Speaking of Audio Section, i’ve posted a review of Rob Dougan’s Furious Angels CD in the afore mentioned section.
